Please join us for the next meeting of the WestSide Historical Societies Thursday, October 24, 2024 for a discussion of the upcoming Semiquincentennial of the United States, which is in 2026. Ohio has created the America 250-Ohio Commission to lead Ohio’s efforts to participate in the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Please join us October 24 to hear from America 250-Ohio Executive Director Todd Kleismit who will brief the Historical Society and the public on the work of the state commission and how local communities can play a role. Hamilton County Home Repair Loan Program Announcement

October 15, 2024

We are pleased to announce that on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, LISC Greater Cincinnati, alongside leadership from our National Office, the Board of County Commissioners, and key program partners, officially launched the Hamilton County Revive + Thrive Home Repair Loan Program. This initiative is the second addition to our Homeownership Preservation Strategy, following Lead Safe Hamilton County. The program is supported by a $2.1 million investment from the Hamilton County Commission through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), with additional backing from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Loan financing is provided by Warsaw Federal.

The Revive + Thrive Home Repair Loan Program offers low-interest loans with a 2% interest rate, repayable over a term of up to 10 years. Loans will range from $5,000 to $25,000, available to eligible homeowners with household incomes up to 80% of the area median income (AMI). Currently, the program is targeted to homeowners in participating jurisdictions within Hamilton County, outside the City of Cincinnati. Announcements for City residents will follow soon.

Eligible repairs address critical needs and contribute to the long-term value of the home. Prioritized repair categories include:
• Health and safety (e.g., lead, mold, asbestos)
• Existing code violations
• General, non-cosmetic improvements (e.g., roof, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, essential structural repairs)

Accessing the Program:
• United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s 211 Helpline will serve as the point of entry for the pre-qualification process.
• Working In Neighborhoods (WIN) will assist eligible homeowners in completing their full application.
• Warsaw Federal, Cincinnati’s first Minority Depository Institution (MDI), will service the loans.
• Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati will oversee the repairs, ensuring all work is performed by approved subcontractors.

To learn more or to begin the pre-qualification process, interested homeowners should contact 211. Additional program details, including a Pre-Qualification Checklist and FAQs, can be found at www.hamiltoncountyhome.org and Housing & Utilities – 513 Relief.

Attached is a digital card for easy sharing, along with the program FAQ detailing how to get started and a list of the Participating Jurisdictions currently served.
