🌳 IMPORTANT STORM DEBRIS & YARD WASTE UPDATE 🌳

August 19, 2026

🌳 IMPORTANT STORM DEBRIS & YARD WASTE UPDATE 🌳
Beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the City of Cheviot will no longer make special trips to pick up storm debris. We will be returning to our regular yard waste pickup rules.
Please remember:
🌿 Tree and bush cuttings must be tied in bundles no more than 5 feet long and 30 pounds per bundle.
🌳 Branches must be under 6 inches in diameter and no longer than 4 feet.
🚨 IMPORTANT REMINDER: If a tree or storm debris is cleaned up by a tree service, landscaping company, or other contractor, the company performing the work is responsible for hauling the debris away. The City of Cheviot will not pick up debris left behind by a company.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we return to our regular yard waste collection procedures! 🍃
Thank you for helping keep Cheviot clean and safe! 💚

STORM DEBRIS PICKUP – CITY OF CHEVIOT

August 11, 2026

🌳 STORM DEBRIS PICKUP – CITY OF CHEVIOT 🌳

The City of Cheviot Public Works Department will be picking up tree limbs and branches for the remainder of the week following the recent storms.

Residents who have storm debris to be removed are asked to please get all branches and limbs to the curb so they can be picked up by the garbage truck.

Please place debris neatly at the curb and keep it clear of vehicles, sidewalks, and other obstructions.

If a company is hired to remove storm debris including branches, limbs, and trees, that company is responsible for the haul away of those items.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our Public Works crews work throughout the community to get everyone cleaned up after the storm.

URGENT-Storm Debris Cautions

August 11, 2026

PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN CLEANING UP STORM DEBRIS
As storm cleanup begins, please remember that downed power lines may still be energized and extremely dangerous. Never assume a wire is safe simply because it is lying on the ground or appears damaged.
DO NOT approach, touch, move, or drive over any downed wire. Keep children and pets away from the area and maintain a safe distance from debris that may be hiding electrical lines.
If you see a downed power line or live wire, DO NOT attempt to handle it yourself. Call 911 immediately and report its location.
Please take your time during cleanup and put safety first. What looks like a simple piece of storm debris could be hiding a serious electrical hazard.
When in doubt, stay away and call 911.
Please share this reminder with your family, friends, and neighbors.
